The Grounds

Today, Laure and Charles Cowen are putting all their energy and their soul into “their” Forge in order to restaure it’s former grandeur. They provide a unique residence, of incomparable beauty, surrounded by a 3,5 hectar park running along the river Dure.

Cascade at the Forge A waterfall upstream and the row of plane trees downstream limit the grounds. Between these two points, an 1850 stable, a 1930 orangery, the nineteenth century house and the ruins of the old forge. All connected by flowered walks and mossy trees, between granite, limestone, pebbles, stones and rocks, making the Forge a truly unique location.

Water is everywhere in the form of rivers, streams, waterfalls and channels all of which gives a musical and refreshing atmosphere that both inspires and relaxes. The renovations have uncovered forgotten walks, nooks and crannies, surrounded by trees and blanketed with flowers. Not to mention the presence of the large Douglas fir tree that soars above the house.
